Baby food

Fruit and vegetable ingredients, which are used for infant feeding, don’t just need to taste great, but need to comply to additional and more restrictive requirements in respect of agrochemical residues as well. SVZ International is producing an increasing number of these ingredients in the shape of pureed, concentrated pureed and juice concentrates

To meet the requirements of the food law (EU Directive EC/2003/14), SVZ sources raw materials from selected growers/origins and has a Pesticide Monitoring System in place to check and guarantee that its ingredients comply to the requirements and that the ingredients are safe to use for this delicate consumer group.

Specific raw material

There are four different sources for raw materials SVZ has access to:

  • From certified organic growers
  • Wild/Forest fruits;
  • Cultivations by selected growers who cultivate according to Agronomical Instructions of SVZ
  • Conventional cultivations without restrictions for the growers

Not for every raw material there is a choice of the above-mentioned options. For example the diversity of forest fruits is limited and sometimes not interchangeable with the cultivated fruits. Quality parameters or varieties can be significantly different from the cultivated fruits.

Apart from monitoring the reduced pesticide cultivations program, SVZ agronomical department also monitors conventional raw materials. Based on a positive release system these raw materials could be used for ingredients for infant feeding, if test results show not exceeding residue limits.

With these measurements in please SVZ can offer you a ingredient that is safe and controlled for use in babyfood. The range covers all berries and some tropical fruits and of course vegetables.
